Seahawks trade John Moffitt to Cleveland Browns: Trade offers guard position

August 19, 2013
Seahawks trade is causing some talk among sports fans this week, as right guard John Moffitt was recently traded to the Cleveland Browns from the Seahawks, the Seattle Times was reported this Monday, Aug. 19. Both teams ended the trading debate officially with Moffitt’s transfer late this evening.

The Seahawks trade resulted in the Browns getting their own player in return, that of defensive end and tackle Brian Sanford, who is expected to add some strength to a defensive line that has some players coping with some recent serious injuries.

John Moffitt is a third-year player from Wisconsin, and has been in competition for quite some time with a second-year star, J.R. Sweezy. Sweezy in fact had run with the number one top offensive throughout the pro camp, while also being on the starting line of the first two games prior to the Seahawks trade.

It seems that the recent transfer to the Cleveland Browns is telling of the team’s own faith in Sweezy and his skill.

According to the report, Seattle is already pleased with the talent of a couple rookies as well. Alvin Bailey (acting as a yet-undrafted free agent) and Michael Bowie (who was a seventh-round pick) have no doubt been eyed by the team, while having the Seahawks trade Moffitt might in fact make it less of a challenge for the team to keep their claws in those two players. Although both Bailey and Bowie are listed in the drafts as a tackle, each can play the guard position — Bailey especially has been spotted increasing his training time in the guard spot throughout this week.
Seattle most recently listed Brian Sanford as a defensive tackle this Friday at Green Bay on the latest depth chart for last Friday’s game.
