Tappan Zee accident

One person was killed and four were injured in an accident on the Tappan Zee Bridge Tuesday.

According to The Associated Press, the multi-vehicle crash on the bridge, the longest in the state of New York, may have been caused by a driver going the wrong way.

The Journal News reports that a 69-year-old Michael Schechel was driving the wrong way on the bridge Tuesday night when he careened "head-on into a Nissan," which reportedly rolled multiple times. Three other vehicles are also said to have crashed.

Hannah Ayeh-Brachie, 56, a passenger in the Nissan, was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene. Four others were injured and were promptly taken to area hospitals in serious condition.

Police are currently investigating the accident.
