Newport Folk Festival 2013

The Newport Folk Festival was founded in 1959 as a gathering for folks from around the country to hear the music indigenous to other parts of the country. The music celebrated at Newport has always run the gambit, from Delta blues to Cajun and the music of urban centers. From contemporary singer-songwriters to old timey string bands, and beyond. As Newport Folk Festival has aged, it's kept its sites on the everflowing river of the evolving American folk circuit. In 2013, festivarians will be treated to some of the giants of the genre, from Ramblin' Jack Elliott to Iris DeMent, the Avett Brothers, Old Crow Medicine Show, Feist, and beyond. But, if you're heading out to Fort Adams State Park for the 2013 festivities, you'll want to make sure to catch some folks you may not have heard much about just yet. That's where this list comes in.
So, without further ado, here are a handful of newer artists you don't want to miss at the Newport Folk Festival, July 26-28, 2013.
